About the gameHow Snake works,
How Snake works,
in short.
- Step 01
Steer with the arrows.
The snake glides forward on its own. Turn 90° at a time — no reversing into your own body.
- Step 02
Eat to grow.
Every fruit adds a segment. The board stays the same size — your room to move shrinks.
- Step 03
Stay clear of yourself.
Hit a wall or your own tail and the run ends. Plan the next turn before the head gets there.
Questions
Snake questions, answered.
Snake is a classic arcade game where you control a growing snake on a grid. Eat food to grow longer and score points; the game ends if the snake hits a wall or runs into itself.
Use the arrow keys (or WASD) to steer the snake one square at a time. Guide it onto food pellets to grow and earn points. Plan turns ahead — the snake cannot stop or reverse direction.
Arrow keys or WASD change direction. Space pauses and resumes the game. Enter starts a new round. On mobile, swipe in any of the four directions on the playfield.
The snake speeds up as your score rises. The extra speed is the main difficulty curve — early rounds give you plenty of time to react while later rounds reward planning ahead.
Hug the edges of the board to leave room in the middle, and avoid cutting through your own future path. As the snake grows, plan two or three moves ahead before taking a tight turn. Don't chase every food pellet — sometimes it's safer to lap the board first.
