A mini crossword is a bite-sized 5x5 grid with two sets of clues — across and down — that share letters where the words intersect. Solve every cell correctly and the puzzle is complete.

Tap any cell to select it, then type a letter. The selection auto-advances through the current word, skipping cells you have already filled. When you finish a word, the selection jumps to the next clue automatically — the same flow as the NYT Mini.

Tap the selected cell a second time to flip the direction, or press the spacebar. The active clue updates instantly and the highlighted word follows the new direction.

Use the arrow buttons on the active-clue bar or press Tab to jump to the next clue. Clicking a clue in the across/down panel jumps the selection straight to its first empty cell.

Letters fill the selected cell and auto-advance. Arrow keys move one cell at a time (changing direction if needed). Backspace clears the current cell, or steps back if the cell is already empty. Space flips across / down. Tab jumps to the next clue.

Check scans every filled cell and highlights any wrong letters in clay-red, with a small underline. Empty cells are left alone. As soon as you edit a flagged cell, its error mark clears. Check does not penalize you — it is just a self-audit.

Yes. Reveal cell fills the correct letter for the selected square and locks it from edits. Reveal puzzle solves everything in one shot. Either action shows up in the reveal counter on the solved card.

Yes. The grid scales for small screens and your phone keyboard pops up when a cell is selected. Tapping the selected cell flips between across and down, exactly like on the desktop.

As soon as every cell holds the correct letter the puzzle is marked solved, and a results card slides in with your time and reveal count.
