Minesweeper is a logic puzzle where you uncover every safe cell on a grid without detonating any of the hidden mines. Numbers on revealed cells tell you how many mines sit in the eight neighboring cells.

Tap (or left-click) a cell to reveal what's beneath. To flag a suspected mine, switch the Reveal / Flag toggle above the board to Flag and tap the cell — on desktop you can also just right-click. Use the numbers as clues to deduce which neighbors are safe. The game is won when every non-mine cell is revealed, and lost the moment you reveal a mine.

A number on a revealed cell is the count of mines in its eight adjacent cells. A "1" means exactly one of the surrounding cells is a mine; a "3" means three of them are. Empty revealed cells have zero mines as neighbors.

Set the Reveal / Flag toggle above the board to Flag, then tap a cell to plant a flag on a suspected mine (on desktop you can also right-click). Flagged cells cannot be opened by accident, so switch back to Reveal to keep clearing. Flags don't have to be correct — they are just markers to help you keep track.

Easy is a 9x9 board with 10 mines — perfect for learning. Medium is 16x16 with 40 mines for a balanced challenge. Hard is 30x16 with 99 mines, the classic expert level used in tournaments.

No. The board lays out mines after your first click so that the cell you start on is always safe. This guarantees every game opens with at least one revealed area to work from.

Start from corners and edges — they have fewer neighbors and resolve faster. Learn common number patterns like 1-2-1 along an edge, which always identify the mines. Flag confidently when the math is certain, and skip ahead when revealing more cells gives you no new information.
