About the gameHow Unblock works,
How Unblock works,
in short.
- Step 01
Cars slide along their own length.
Every car moves only forward or back along the lane it points down — never sideways, and never over or through another car. A car stops the instant it meets the wall or another car.
- Step 02
Press and drag a car along its lane.
Press a car and drag it up or down its lane (or side to side for the across-cars); it stops at whatever blocks it. Let go and it snaps into the nearest cell. One slide — any distance — counts as a single move.
- Step 03
Open a path to the exit on the right.
Shuffle the traffic until the red car has a clear run to the gap in the right wall, then slide it out. Clearing it in as few moves as you can — at or under par — is the real challenge.
Questions
Unblock questions, answered.
Unblock is a sliding-block escape puzzle in the well-known style of Rush Hour and the many "unblock the car" games. The board is a 6×6 lot jammed with cars and trucks. One car is red — your job is to clear a path and slide it out through the exit on the right side.
Press a car and drag it along the lane it points down — across cars slide left and right, upright cars slide up and down. A car stops at the wall or at the next car, and snaps into place when you let go. Shuffle the traffic until the red car has a clear run to the right-edge exit, then slide it out.
One move is one car sliding once, in a single drag — any distance. Nudging a car one cell and gliding it four cells both count as exactly one move, so the move counter rewards planning a long slide over a string of short ones.
Par is the fewest possible moves for the puzzle, proven by the built-in solver when the board is dealt. It is a true minimum, not an estimate. Solving at or under par means you found one of the tightest possible solutions.
Yes. Every deal is checked by the solver before it reaches you and is kept only if it can be solved — and graded by how many moves its best solution takes. You will never be handed a position with no way out.
Difficulty is set by par, the proven minimum. Easy puzzles solve in roughly five to nine moves, Medium in ten to sixteen, and Hard demands a long, interlocked sequence of seventeen or more. Harder boards are more crowded and force you to move cars out of the way just to move other cars.
Your fewest-moves best is kept per difficulty, on this device only, in local storage — there is no account and no leaderboard. The Best stat shows a dash until you finish your first puzzle at that difficulty.
Yes. Undo steps back through every move you have made (or press Ctrl+Z), as far as the start of the puzzle. Hint re-solves from the current position and rings the next car to move, naming the direction — so you can get unstuck without giving the whole solution away.
Yes. The board scales to your screen and the cars are comfortable drag targets on touch. Press a car and slide it with one finger; nothing to install, and a puzzle takes only a few minutes.
